George Town Outreach
Centacare Tasmania Family Services offer counselling, referral and support around a wide variety of issues to the George Town community. Services are now provided in George Town Hospital as well as on an outreach basis in the local area. This service has been operating for over four years and has established a solid connection with the community.
Intensive Family Support (NEW)
The program works in conjunction with Child and Family Services and is linked to the Gateway referral point, supporting families considered at risk of more formal intervention. Case workers engage in intensive support including household routine development, nutrition, school liaison, budgeting and referral for counselling, anger management, education and other programs. The program has a reporting agreement with Child and Family Services. The service is funded through the Tasmanian government’s Department of Health and Human Services.
Centacare provides the IFS service in Launceston and George Town.
George Town Hospital Counselling Service (NEW)
This program also operates out of George Town Hospital and provides services both to hospital in-patients, and walk in clients. Strong connections have been developed with local schools and, based on client needs, a very wide range of child and family counselling is being offered. The service responds to all areas of need for counselling, advocacy and referral. The service is funded through the Tasmanian government’s Department of Health and Human Services.
